In this tutorial I will be teaching you how to add a border (outline) around your text. Open a new document in Photoshop. Type what you like and adjust the size and family of the text until it's where you want it. I'll be using white text and outlining it in black, however you can do whatever colors your heart desires. Once you're satisfied with your text, create a new layer. Then go up to the layers tab and select your new layer; for me it's layer 1. Now, hold down the control key (Ctrl) and click on your text layer. There should now be a dashed line around your text.
Now go over to edit and click on "stroke" (right under "fill", in the third section down). Set the width to 1px (or however think you want the line around your text to be), select your outlining color, select the "Location" button to "outside" and click OK. Your text should now look something like this:
If you want to add your new, outlined text onto a graphic, go to the layers tab, right-click the layer that says "Background" and delete layer. Then go up to the "Layer" menu and, down at the bottom, click on "Merge Visible". Now you can select your text, copy it, and paste it onto a graphic!
It is important that you delete the Background layer before you merge or there will be a white box around your text when you try to paste it somewhere (like on a graphic). That wouldn't be very pretty would it? |
