Around the year of 2006, Syd (Blackstallion808) had been playing Neopets for about twelve months. She was
big on running/joining guilds. She saw how lots of other guilds had their own custom layouts and graphics for the
members. She decided that she wanted to learn to make graphics. At the time all she had was Microsoft Paint. She
experimented with the different tools and such (though her graphics were not good whatsoever) and soon had become
familiar with the program. Then she realized that she wanted to put them on the internet. She asked around the
neoboards and learned of Photobucket where she could upload all her works to the internet. After a while, she started
noticing how many people had "graphics sites" on their petpages. Syd then started fantisizing about making her own.
So she decided that she would make her own petpage "graphics site". But she realized that she had no idea how to
code anything; so she started reading Neopets' HTML guide and asking people who made amazing graphics how they
coded like they did. After a long time of dissecting page coding and following tips and guides, she soon learned how
to code in HTML sufficiently. Syd started putting her backgrounds and icons etc. on her new petpage "graphics site". After a small amount of time, she realized that while a petpage was a good starting point, it wasn't sufficient for her to continue on with her dreams for her "site". She looked at websites she often visited like Sunnyneo.com and sunshineneo.com. Sunshineneo had a large, in-depth guide on how to run a website. Syd followed the guide and soon had her own account on Freewebs. She decided to name her new website (now an actual graphics site) Sydney's Graphics. She had the site up and running for a while, went through two layout changes, hired 1 staff member, and then gave in to the fact that her site wasn't doing so well. She decided to rename the website, improve her graphics and learn more about the web ways. Soon she reopened as Shadyneo with the domain shadyneo.co.nr. She now had some more experience with graphics and coding. Her work was steadily improving. Then she started expanding, adding content, a chatbox, and ultimately hiring staff. Syd worked and worked on the site for about two years as she learned css coding, and it became big with lots of affies, great quality graphics, but still she was basically running the site all by herself. But it didn't bother her much. After a long while of running Shadyneo and gaining affiliates, she soon became affiliated with neochocolate.co.nr. She and the owner became friends and Shadyneo continued, but at a slower rate. After about a month of their affiliation, Syd learned that Neochocolate might be closing as Lizzy was too inactive to run the site anymore. So Syd sent her an e-mail saying how sorry she was that Neochocolate was closing and told her that if she considered finding a new owner, she'd love to. Lizzy agreed that that would be best and decided to give Syd the site. Syd really loved the name and started working on bringing the site back. She reopened on September 1st 2008 with 20 new graphics pages, 7 new guides and much more! She had the site growing at a fast rate and soon spent all her time building Neochocolate. But Syd never forgot Shadyneo. She still updated the site once every week, but was more involved with Neochocolate. She soon felt bad for neglecting the site and tried her hardest to manage two sites at once. It wasn't too hard, but whenever she created graphics or guides, she put them on Neochocolate. After a while of prospering, the sites started to slow. Soon, Syd was very involved with her guilds and wasn't really updating a lot, just posting every once in a while so her affies knew she was still there and wouldn't delete her. After about 3 months of semi-inactivity Syd started working again on the sites, but not as much. She had been thinking a lot about merging her sites into one site so it would be easier to manage, but she couldn't bring herself to leave Shadyneo as it was the site that was HERS, that she herself had created and worked on all by herself. And she loved Neochocolate's name and didn't want to leave it too. So she kept both sites up and maintained her activity for a while. Then Syd heard about another of her affiliates who was closing: Rainbowpool-.webs.com. She had become well acquainted with the site's owner, Ashley, as she and Syd had talked on Neopets for a while after Syd had requested some buttons from Rainbowpool- (as she didn't have the programs to make her own). So she applied to become the new owner. A couple days later Ashley announced that Syd would be the new owner of Rainbowpool-! :D Syd was very happy and loved rainbowpool- a lot as it had active staff, a very active chatbox and was an all-around great site that was more successful than either Shadyneo or Neochocoate. Syd found that trying to manage three websites was a lot of work. The idea of merging had never left her mind. She decided that the time had come to act. She had recently learned how to use Awardspace and how to do skins (which she had been trying to learn for a while). She put Neochoclate and Shadyneo on open hiatuses and put up a poll asking visitors what she should do. When the results were heavily weighing on her merging her sites, she made a new account on awardspace for what was to be her new site. She didn't tell anyone what she was doing because she wasn't quite ready. Founded March 11th, 2009 Syd started working on her new site (to be called Snowickle.co.nr) and kept updating Rainbowpool-. She continued working on Snowickle for close to a month, and halfway done she announced on all three sites that she was merging them together in a new site called Snowickle. She then starting adding the old sites' content (which she still thought good and valuable) and was almost ready for the grand opening. Finally, on May 10th 2009, Snowickle.co.nr was unveiled to the online public. It opened with a large bang and people from all over the www flooded in! |
